Here at Origami, we have some really awesome updates!

Here they are!

1. We realize there has been some confusion about Founders ordering their boards and receiving bags.

Here’s what happened: We wanted to send you your boards as soon as possible – without depending on bags being available for shipping.

We apologize for this issue, and have come up with a solution that we think Founders will be very happy with.

Here’s what’s going to happen! Once available, we will ship bags to all our Founders! One bag per board ordered. Founders will receive an email notifying them that they will receive their bag. There will be an update when our bags have become available, and they will ship out as soon as possible!

What if you’re not a Founder? If you’re not a Founder, bags will still be available to you. Our soon-to-be-born Accessory page will have bags, paddles, stickers and T-shirts very soon!

2. Speaking of stickers and T-shirts!!

Stickers and T-shirts bearing the Origami Paddler logo are currently undergoing the transition from design to production! This means both Stickers and T-shirts will become available to Origami Fans very soon. Here’s a quick preview of the logos that will appear on the T-shirts and Stickers!

It’s been a long, sometimes brutal, birth but we are all smiles as the first Origami Paddlers left the dock in the safe hands of UPS today.

If you have placed an order, your board may or may not be in this first batch. We are shipping in the order that orders were received. Subsequent batches have already been made, they are simply awaiting assembly, quality control, packaging and shipping. Wanting to get things right the first time, the first batch took much longer than the next and it will continue to get quicker as we continue.

Dear Founders, your patience has been extraordinary. We haven’t had a single order canceled even with all these delays. Thank you!

Here are a couple more production pictures to whet your appetite.

Here’s the latest information gleaned from the busy crew:

Shipping date: 90% certain of shipping within two weeks. There are too many variables to pin down specific dates yet. Please believe me when I say, ”I’ve tried.” Even though Tim had to be out of town all last week, mold work and fine-tuning continued in his absence so no time was lost.

The initial “Founders” purchases will include an aluminum shaft paddle that will fit in the board when folded.

We will contact “Founders” just prior to shipping to confirm delivery addresses and color choices. Purchases made since the Founders offer include color choice as part of the process.

Thank you for your patience. We are almost there!

We’re doing our best to keep you informed as production progresses. And to that end, yesterday was a big day as we pulled the first test out of the final molds. Here’s the process in pictures.

The slender gray piece is the mold used to make the bow piece. It is being positioned to go into the oven where it will be spun allowing the melted material to evenly coat its interior shape.

Here’s a look at the first piece out. Exciting! The light gray piece is one half of the clam-shell mold. The darker gray is the Origami Paddler bow piece still resting in the other half of the mold.

Here are the other two pieces fresh from the mold. The gray color is the result of using material that cleans out the mold. Look below to see the colors we will be building these in once production gets started.

It isn’t unusual and we planned for doing several mold tests and adjustments before starting production. But we had near perfection on this first test. A little tweaking here and there and the second test may be the last. Fingers and toes!

It may be ugly gray but once bindings and fins are installed it will be ready to take out on the water. My guess it will have already been launched by the time you read this.

We mentioned that the gray color was the result of using non-production material during testing. Once production begins (soon please!) we will be producing Origami Paddlers in the above two colors, green and yellow.

You live in your beachfront condo because you love being on the water, on the beach and in the water. You have been renting or at least watching with great interest as others are on the water with their stand up paddle boards. But renting gets expensive and where are you going to put a board you’ve bought that’s more than ten-feet long? Think of the friends you’ll make in the elevator, NOT.

You are one of the many people for whom we have designed the Origami Paddler, a folding SUP board. The Origami Paddler solves all these problems without compromising on performance on the water.

Easy to carry while folded, you will make friends on the elevator as they enviously realize your ability to head out to the beach with ease, unfold and set the bindings (no tools required) quickly and enjoy the water on your high-performance stand-up paddle board.

Having it with you on trips is simple as well since the Origami Paddler conforms to size and weight requirements to qualify for least-expensive shipping and airline checked baggage rates. Of course, if heading out in your car, your trunk or back seat will usually provide all the space needed to get your board where you’re going.

Isn’t it time to really enjoy your beachfront lifestyle? Order your Origami Paddler today.
